Google Wallet hack hits Verizon Galaxy S III

Google Wallet hack hits Verizon Galaxy S III

Verizon may not want you to have Google Wallet on your phone, but that won?t stop intrepid rooters and hackers from shoehorning the app into Big Red?s handsets. Mike Beauchamp and Dustin Evans took some time away from their recent Kansas City trip (to check out Google Fiber, of course) to get the Mountain View mobile payment solution up and running on a Galaxy S III. Is it more difficult than rooting your device and installing the app? Just a bit. Beauchamp?s video doesn?t offer much in the way of instruction, but it does show it being used to buy breakfast at Mickey D?s. Thankfully, it looks like some folks over at the XDA forums have documented the solution, just check out the more coverage link.

Outlining Just How Coconut Oil Benefits Weight Loss And All Around ...

For several people, weight loss is required to obtain better health. With the worsening cases of morbid obesity, among the younger generation particularly, a lot of programs and products are being created to help make the process of reducing weight easier and, on top of that, much healthier. From tiny vibrating pads that you attach to a problematic area of your body, to weight loss beverages and fibre or caffeine-infused bars, men and women trying to slim down don?t shy in blending them all to obtain the results they want for their bodies. Health professionals, however, suggest carrying out the weight loss process in the best way possible, by choosing naturally nutritious products and working out.

Among the pure nutritious products is coconut oil. The coconut is usually referred to as as the ?fruit of life? though actually it?s not really a fruit. It?s abundant with nutrition that individuals need to become healthy. This article will let you know how coconut oil benefits weight loss and general health.

To begin with, coconut oil is obtained from the meat of matured coconuts. It?s an edible form of oil that goes through 2 types of processes; the dry and the wet. People usually use it as cooking oil, and take it in gel tablets, in its pure form or in flavoured variations. Taken regularly (most health and fitness experts recommend 3 gel capsules each day or 3 to 6 tablespoonfuls), coconut oil can in fact aid in metabolism. Slow metabolic rate is often the issue of people which don?t have a physically active way of life or those that have thyroid problems. If one?s metabolism is sluggish, it?s difficult to get rid of weight, particularly if compounded by poor diet. But with the help of coconut oil, preferably extra virgin coconut oil, metabolic process can improve effortlessly. EVCO is rich in triglycerides that can speed up metabolism, since they are quickly digested and transformed into energy.

An additional way coconut oil benefits weight loss is when its medium-chain essential fatty acids that eliminate a problem of yeast overgrowth called Candida. This problem is responsible for symptoms of weight gain, fatigue and hunger pangs. By getting rid of candida, weight-loss endeavours are more successful and produce longer lasting effects.

Coconut oil is known to regulate bowel movement. A healthier bowel movement is usually an indication of a healthy digestive tract, and a healthy digestive system is important in reducing weight and maintaining great skin. Many people often lose skin moisture when they shed pounds, however with coconut oil, they are able to keep smooth, healthy skin.

Slow metabolic process is often the challenge of people who do not have a physically active life style or those that have thyroid problems. This post will explain how coconut oil benefits weight loss.

Small space solutions for the kitchen | Pasco News

29 Jul, 2012

Crowded cabinets, cluttered counters and nonexistent prep space. Sound familiar? For many homeowners, small kitchen spaces make everyday use and entertaining a source of frustration. While a small kitchen can pose many challenges, it doesn?t have to stop you from enjoying the space. From a full scale home renovation to some simple and quick fixes, there are many options to help you realize your kitchen?s full potential and transform it into a welcoming place where you?ll want to spend time.

Size up your space
Before starting any project, big or small, evaluate the space and determine how you want it to work for you. Sometimes solutions for one issue can provide an answer for other challenges. For example, by adding a moveable island to create additional prep space, you?ve now also got an area for friends and family to gather when you entertain.

Don?t forget to consider your long-term goals for your home. Is this a starter home or somewhere you plan to stay and grow in? This can make a difference in the type of projects you want to take on.

Make a plan
When you?ve decided on the scope of your project, it?s time to determine what resources you?ll need to make it happen. Online tools like Merillat?s Step-By-Step Kitchen Planner can help you get an idea of what elements you?re looking for and how they?ll work in your space. Talking with a design professional can help you decide if you need additional support or if your project can be completed on your own.

?When faced with a small space, it can be hard to see the design possibilities,? says Sarah Reep, director of designer relations and education for Merillat Cabinets. ?A professional designer can bring clarity and simplicity to any type of home change. In many cases, their skills and training can help reveal solutions you never even knew existed.?

First-time homeowner Zach Kaefring recently remodeled his small kitchen with the help of a professional designer and was surprised at just how functional his tiny space became. ?We went from basically nothing to a kitchen full of storage solutions that make the space really work for us,? says Kaefring. ?Working with our designer helped ensure we had all the components we needed to fit our lifestyle. We used to avoid the kitchen, but now we?re in there all the time.?

Get organized
If you?re remodeling, look for cabinets to help contain clutter and keep countertops clear. Storage solutions such as pull-out spice racks, in-drawer cutting boards, drawer organizers and dividers keep all your cooking utensils out of the way but close at hand, and can make life in the kitchen easier for everyday use and entertaining.

?In the kitchen, especially a small one, every inch counts,? says Reep. ?Planning smart storage solutions in your cabinetry is a great way to bring style and functionality to even the smallest spaces.?

If a few quick fixes are all you can take on, have some fun with it by researching solutions in magazines, on design blogs or even through new resources like Pinterest. Additionally, look for creative ways to make the most of your cabinets and drawers by placing items close to where they?ll be used. Have pots and pans, spices and utensils close to the stove. Put storage containers and dishes near the fridge or serving area. Make sure you put your most frequently used items in the most accessible places. This will help you flow through prep and cooking easily, with things placed intuitively throughout the space.

Change the focus
Whether it?s an area to display your wine collection with a built-in storage option like those offered by Merillat Cabinets or showing off decorative dishes and family treasures with glass-front cabinetry, drawing attention to items that show your interests and personality will remove the focus from the actual size of your space.

kids board games - Gifts for Children: Younger Girls

When it comes to gifts for children, it is all about getting them something that will entertain them and keep them busy for hours. Children's toys for girls are plentiful and sometimes it can seem overwhelming because there are just so many options. But girls aren't that hard to shop for if you have an idea of age and what they may like.

For younger girls in their elementary school years, there's a lot to think about. Each age group tends to want something very different. For the younger 4-6 year old set, it is all about dolls. But you don't have to just settle with the classic Barbie. There are plenty of dolls that can talk and interact, teaching kids a variety of things, from addition and subtraction to how to dress themselves. Girls love the idea of dress up dolls and it is great when it can be incorporated with their actually day-to-day outfits as well. Girls at this age love dolls because they are companions to them. They'll carry them around everywhere!

Girls this age are also very big into pretend play, especially playing house. They like to copy what they see in their own households and love interacting with each other to do it. Pretend play toys can be great gifts for children because it encourages that socialization.

As girls get a bit older, in the 7-10 age range, they might be more into fashion, creative exploits, and expressing themselves in a variety of ways. This is when they really start coming into their own, personality-wise. They want arts and crafts toys to play with, from stencils and drawing materials, to creating their own jewelery and accessories. It's the age of really exploring creativity.

Once they reach 11-13 or so, girls start to grow away from children's toys as many think of them and want to continue with just creating things. They also may have developed a hobby: dance, sports, academics, or any other number of interests. It's great to start buying them things that pertain more to what they are passionate about.

Whatever you get girls as a gift, be sure to get to know a little bit about what they love to do, especially if you are getting it for a child that isn't in your family and one you don't interact with on a daily basis. Little girls will love almost anything you get them and will gravitate to any new toys that they make receive. ---

Poll: Few think Romney's faith resembles their own

WASHINGTON (AP) ? Most of America doesn't relate to Mitt Romney's religion but that may not matter in his race against President Barack Obama.

Those are the findings of a new Pew Research Center poll released Thursday, about a month before Republican Romney is set to become the first Mormon presidential nominee of a major political party.

Misgivings about the Mormon faith are widespread and persistent. Nearly two-thirds of non-Mormons said they see Romney's faith as very different from their own while just half consider it a Christian faith. Those numbers are little changed since Romney's first run for the presidency pushed Mormonism to the political forefront in 2007.

Despite those qualms, most voters who know that Romney is a devout Mormon say they are comfortable with his religious beliefs, and few voters reject his candidacy solely because of concerns about his faith.

Romney rarely discusses the details of his faith in public, preferring to focus on how it has helped him connect with people. In an interview Wednesday with NBC News, Romney again credited his religion with shaping his perspective and said he would talk about his experiences in the church. He did not address his spiritual beliefs.

"I'm ? without question ? I'm a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I'm proud of that," Romney said. "Some call that the Mormon Church, that's fine with me. I'll talk about my experiences in the church. There's no question they've helped shape my perspective."

Views of Mormonism generally have held steady.

About six in 10 non-Mormons see it as very different from their own faith, and about half say they consider it to be a Christian religion, as Mormons themselves do. Among other Christians, black Protestants (66 percent) and white evangelicals (63 percent) are most apt to say they consider the faith sharply different from their own, while white evangelicals (42 percent) were most likely to say the Mormon faith is not a Christian one.

The poll, conducted jointly by the Pew Research Center's Forum on Religion and Public Life and its Center for the People and the Press, found the public's knowledge about the religious beliefs of the two men vying for the presidency remains murky ? even as two-thirds say it is important that a president have strong religious beliefs.

Sixty percent of registered voters know Romney is a Mormon, about the same as in a March poll. Nine percent think he follows another faith and 32 percent weren't sure. About eight in 10 who know of Romney's beliefs are either comfortable with them (60 percent) or say it doesn't matter (21 percent).

Discomfort with Romney's faith peaks among several groups not often on the same side in politics: white evangelical Protestants, black Protestants, atheists and agnostics. White evangelical Protestants broadly back Romney for president despite their misgivings about his religious background, while the other groups are far more likely to support Obama.

Overall, the poll found Obama holding a 50 percent to 43 percent lead over Romney.

Concerns about Romney's religion seem to dampen enthusiasm for his candidacy among some Republicans. Those Republicans who are aware of Romney's faith and are uncomfortable with it are far more tepid about his candidacy than Republicans who express no concerns about his faith.

That diminished enthusiasm could hurt Romney this fall. A candidate's strongest supporters often are the most likely to turn out to vote. The poll found Romney lagging behind Obama in strong support generally, with 32 percent strongly backing the president and 15 percent committed to Romney.

With regard to Obama, the poll found that misperceptions about his faith persist.

About half of registered voters correctly say Obama is a Christian. Seventeen percent misidentify him as a Muslim, 3 percent say he adheres to some other faith and 31 percent say they are unsure.

That's a slightly higher number misidentifying the president as a Muslim than in October 2008, during his first run for the presidency. Back then, 12 percent said they thought Obama was a Muslim. Nearly all of that increase is among Republicans, however, as the share in that group saying Obama is a Muslim has nearly doubled in that time.

Overall, those who are aware of the president's faith are broadly comfortable with it. Among those who know Obama is a Christian, 82 percent say they are comfortable with his faith. Only about one-fourth of those who identify him as a Muslim say they are comfortable with what they see as the president's religious beliefs.

The poll was conducted by telephone June 28-July 9 among a random national sample of 2,973 adults, including 2,373 registered voters. Results among all adults have a margin of sampling error of plus or minus 2.1 percentage points, among registered voters, it is 2.3 points.

U.S. fears Syria preparing for massacre in Aleppo

AMMAN/BEIRUT (Reuters) - President Bashar al-Assad's forces renewed a ground and aerial bombardment of Aleppo on Friday, extending efforts to crush rebels in Syria's commercial capital in what the United States said it feared could become a massacre.

Insurgents targeted army roadblocks and security installations, with both sides avoiding close-quarters warfare in the city of 2.5 million people, Syria's biggest urban centre.

The U.S. State Department said credible reports of tank columns moving on Aleppo, along with air strikes by helicopters and fixed-wing aircraft, represented a serious escalation of Assad's efforts to crush a rebellion that began 16 months ago.

"This is the concern: that we will see a massacre in Aleppo, and that's what the regime appears to be lining up for," State Department spokeswoman Victoria Nuland said.

Troops stationed on the outskirts of Aleppo unleashed barrages of heavy-caliber mortar rounds on the western neighborhoods of Saladin, al-Sukkari and al-Fardos, while Russian MI-25 helicopter gunships struck al-Sakhour in the east with rockets, several opposition activists in the city said.

RISING CASUALTIES

In the first reported casualty on Friday, a man of about 60 wearing a traditional white prayer outfit was killed near a park in Saladin. His body was placed in a mosque pending identification.

Thirty-four people were killed in Aleppo and its environs on Thursday, according to opposition activists keeping a tally of casualties in the northern city.

"The rebels have so far been nimble, and civilians have mostly been the victims of the bombardment," said activist Abu Mohammad al-Halabi, speaking by phone from the city.

"There is lots of internal displacement, and schools have been turned to makeshift shelters that are packed. One shell hitting a school will result in a catastrophe," he said.

"The regime is massing troops and tanks at the entrances of Aleppo, but it seems it is for now content with bombarding the city, with the rebels constantly on the move."

Majed al-Nour, another activist, said rebels attacked a security outpost in the neighborhood of Bustan al-Joz, which is close to the Aleppo city center, on Thursday.

"The rebels are present in the east and west of the city, and have a foothold in areas of the center. The regime forces control the entrances of Aleppo and the main thoroughfares and commercial streets and are bombarding the residential districts that fell into rebel hands," he said.

Nour said tens of thousands of people had fled Aleppo to nearby northern rural regions close to Turkey from which the Syrian army has withdrawn in recent weeks to focus on urban areas where relatively lightly armed rebels have hunkered down.

The heavy fighting around Aleppo follows an audacious bomb attack that killed four of Assad's closest lieutenants in Damascus on July 18 and led some analysts to speculate that the government's grip was slipping.

With U.N. Security Council resolutions for sanctions against Syria vetoed by Russia and China for a third time last week, the United States has said it is stepping up assistance to Syria's fractured opposition, although it remains limited to non-lethal supplies such as communications gear and medical equipment.

Reuters has learned that the White House has crafted a presidential directive, called a "finding," that would authorize greater covert assistance for the rebels, while still stopping short of arming them.

It is not clear whether President Barack Obama has signed the document, and U.S. officials declined to comment on the finding, which is a highly classified authorization for covert activity.

UNITING THE OPPOSITION

A Syrian parliamentarian representing the northern province of Aleppo said on Friday she had defected to Turkey, becoming the first member of the rubberstamp assembly elected in May and dominated by President Bashar al-Assad's Baath Party to defect.

"I have crossed to Turkey and defected from this tyrannical regime ... because of the repression and savage torture against a nation demanding the minimum of rights," Ikhlas al-Badawi told Sky News Arabia.

One of the most senior figures to defect from Assad's inner circle, Brigadier General Manaf Tlas, put himself forward on Thursday as someone who could help unify the opposition inside and outside Syria on a plan for a transfer of power.

Tlas, speaking in a newspaper interview in the Saudi city of Jeddah, also said he was looking for support from Saudi Arabia and other powers. "I am discussing with ... people outside Syria to reach a consensus with those inside," Tlas told Thursday's edition of the Saudi newspaper Asharq al-Awsat.

Tlas went on to Turkey and met with Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu. Turkey, a former ally of Assad and now one of his fiercest critics, has a heavy strategic stake in shaping any post-Assad leadership in neighboring Syria.

Tlas appeared briefly with Davutoglu at an official guest house, but made no statement.

Turkey closed its border posts with Syria on Wednesday to all traffic except Syrian refugees.

Russia, one of the few remaining allies of the authoritarian Assad whose family has run Syria for 42 years, said calls for him to quit power were hindering efforts to end the conflict.

Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said such calls, led by the United States, Turkey and other Western and Arab nations, were fanning violence. He reiterated Moscow's contention that support for Syrian rebel groups was tantamount to backing terrorism.

Iran promised to stand by Syria, come what may.

First Vice President Mohammad Reza Rahimi told Iran's Press TV on Thursday that the Islamic Republic's support for Syria, its main Arab ally, was "unchangeable", countering suggestions that Iran could soften its backing for Assad.

AURORA, Colo. (AP) ? Despair all around him, President Barack Obama on Sunday offered hugs, tears and the nation's sympathy to survivors of the Colorado shooting rampage and to families whose loved ones were shot dead. He looked for hope in the heartbreak, insisting a brighter day will come for the grieving and declaring that "much of the world is thinking about them."

In dramatic detail, Obama offered a glimpse inside the horror that took place in the Denver-area movie theater early Friday, relaying a story he said spoke to the courage of young Americans. With two fingers pressed to his own neck, Obama recalled how one woman saved the life of a friend who had been shot by keeping pressure on a vein that had "started spurting blood" and by later helping carry her to safety.

In private, Obama visited one by one with anguished families gathered at a hospital and wounded patients recovering in intensive care. He emerged before the TV cameras and kept his focus on the lives and dreams of the fallen and the survivors, not the sole shooting suspect or his "evil act."

"I come to them not so much as president as I do as a father and as a husband," said Obama, addressing reporters from a hospital hallway after his visits. "The reason stories like this have such an impact on us is because we can all understand what it would be to have somebody we love taken from us in this fashion."

For a president nearing the end of his term and seeking a second one, it was another grim occasion for him to serve as national consoler in chief, a role that has become a crucial facet of the job. National tragedies compel presidents to show leadership and a comforting touch ? or risk a plummeting public standing if they cannot match the moment.

The massacre in the Aurora movie theater left 12 dead and 58 wounded. It also temporarily silenced a bitter campaign fight for the White House between Obama and Republican Mitt Romney.

Both men were searching for the right time and manner to re-enter the political debate.

Obama's stop in Colorado ? which happens to be a key electoral state in the race ? came as he was about to shift into a mix of campaign fundraisers and official travel across the West starting Monday. Romney resumed political activities Sunday in California, where he courted Republican donors in three fundraisers in the San Francisco area.

"I know the president is in Colorado today," Romney told supporters while keeping a subdued tone. "He's visiting with families and friends of the victims, which is the right thing for the president to be doing on this day ? appreciate that."

Obama said his conversations with family members were filled with memories of brothers, sons and daughters who had left their mark on others. He said there were laughs as well as tears.

Jordan Ghawi, brother of shooting victim Jessica Ghawi, tweeted that Obama was already familiar with his sister's story before sitting down with him but wanted to learn more.

"My main task was to serve as a representative of the entire country and let them know that we are thinking about them at this moment and will continue to think about them each and every day," Obama said. "The awareness that not only all of America but much of the world is thinking about them might serve as some comfort."

A single suspect, James Holmes, is being held without bond on suspicion of multiple counts of first-degree murder after the shooting rampage, which occurred minutes into a premiere of "The Dark Knight Rises" Batman movie early Friday in this suburb outside Denver.

Obama said he assured the families that even though the suspect behind "this evil act has received a lot of attention over the last couple of days, that attention will fade away. And in the end, after he has felt the full force of our justice system, what will be remembered are the good people who were impacted by this tragedy."

The president's most vivid lines came in describing the story of two friends, 19-year-old Allie Young and her best friend, 21-year-old Stephanie Davies. Both were in Young's hospital room when Obama visited.

Obama recounted that when the gunman entered the movie theater and threw canisters of gas at the start of his killing spree, Allie stood up to warn people.

"And she was shot in the neck, and it punctured a vein, and immediately she started spurting blood," Obama said.

"And apparently, as she dropped down on the floor, Stephanie ? 21 years old ? had the presence of mind to drop down on the ground with her, pull her out of the aisle, place her fingers over where Allie had been wounded, and applied pressure the entire time while the gunman was still shooting," Obama said.

The president said Davies eventually joined others in carrying her friend to an ambulance. He said Young was going to be fine.

"As tragic as the circumstances of what we've seen today are, as heartbreaking as it is for the families, it's worth us spending most of our time reflecting on young Americans like Allie and Stephanie," Obama said. "They represent what's best in us, and they assure us that out of this darkness a brighter day is going to come."

The task of articulating sorrow and loss has become a familiar one for Obama.

In November 2009, he led mourners at a service for victims of the mass shooting at Texas' Fort Hood. In January 2011, he spoke at a memorial for the six victims killed in Tucson, Ariz., when a gunman attacked Rep. Gabrielle Giffords as she met with constituents.

The following April, when some 300 people were killed in a multistate series of tornadoes, Obama flew to Tuscaloosa, Ala., to commiserate with residents whose homes were in ruins. A month later, Obama went to Joplin, Mo., after a monster twister claimed 161 lives.

Home Place: Paella with Roger and Family

Today was Paella Day with Roger and Carol! ?

Several times a year, usually when when he has family visiting, my friend Roger makes Paella. ?If you're not?familiar?with this delicious offering, it is a hearty Spanish dish consisting primarily of rice, vegetables, and protein. ?There are many variations of paella, most are regional in nature, ?but the three most widely prepared are?Valencian paella (Spanish: paella valenciana), seafood paella (Spanish: paella de marisco) and mixed paella (Spanish: paella mixta).?

Roger traditionally prepares "mixed" paella and over the years he has adapted the recipe first taught to him by his grandfather and step-grandfather. ? He has other family members that make paella ?and each adjusts the "family" recipe to their own personal likes and dislikes. ?In fact, Roger's cousin who was also there, explained that his son is now the next generation to prepare their family's paella recipe. ?Folks, this is a dish that is 'made with love' for 'those you love'. I was honored to be invited to Roger and Carol's and partake in this family style dish with along with other friends, family, and loved ones. ?Roger was also kind enough to let me document the preparation of the dish.

Roger has a beautiful paella pan and a Garcima gas burner with stand to prepare the paella outdoors.?

?He starts by oiling the paella pan with virgin olive oil checking that the stand sits level. ?He begins to heat the pan and then adds his first few pieces of chicken legs and thighs to begin seasoning the pan and preparing it for the rest of the ingredients to come.

As soon as the chicken pieces brown he adds cubed pieces of chicken and pork.

After the chicken and pork brown, add chunks of fresh tomato and coarsely chopped garlic, and continuously de-glaze the pan.

Roger then adds some of his secret brew, which consists of chicken and pork?bullion, saffron, pepper and other spices, boiled with water well ahead of time. ?He cautions against using salt, as the?bullion?has a high sodium content.

Now we start building some vegetables and rice. ?Roger adds the green beans.

then the rice. (Roger uses white and says the Spanish style rice can get too starchy.

Then he adds lima beans, peas and flat green beans.

A little more secret brew.

Add some roasted artichokes

and some mini meatballs

Now it's time to build more flavor with the seafood additions:?

clams, mussels, and shrimp.

Finally, the last ingredient, some sweet red peppers.

Cover with foil and let steam for the final few minutes.

Oh...the wait...?

...and the aroma was heavenly!

Voila! ?The finished dish - a beautiful paella!

Roger served Sangria along with some salad,?

and peasant bread with sweet creamy butter with our meal.

My plate runneth over!

Afterwards we all toasted Roger for a delicious meal with some?

Carlos I Solera Gran Reserva Brandy

And then we stuffed ourselves senseless with some decadent desserts!

?Say hi to Roger's mom Fran,?

enjoying some delicious fresh strawberries and pound cake.

We had such a nice afternoon spent with good friends and great company. ?

Thank you Roger and Carol!

If you are interested in making paella there are lots of recipes on the internet,?

use Google searchword "Paella Recipe"?

And the secret to a good paella is a good paella pan. ?

You can find pans on the 'net as well for as little as $35.00 and as much as $300.00 depending on the size, weight, and materials. ?

Here's a sample of a mid-range pan by Wayfair?

but if you look at their website you can find more ?in many styles and price ranges.

Do you have any family dishes that have been passed down "generation to generation"?

Don't you just love family traditions?

I know I do!
Here's a a little sunflower from Carol's garden to leave with you.

In Israel, Romney to provide contrast with Obama

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney will soon do something Barack Obama has yet to do as president - visit U.S. ally Israel, where he will try to present himself to voters back home as a credible replacement to Obama on the world stage.

In the midst of a presidential campaign that is too close to call, Romney leaves on Wednesday for a week-long trip to attend the opening ceremonies of the Olympics in London and visit Israel and Poland.

The aim is to give the former Massachusetts governor some foreign policy credentials and let Americans get a glimpse of him in action overseas as they decide whether to vote for him in the November 6 general election to replace Obama.

Aides say the trip is a "listen and learn" tour with no policy pronouncements. It is a lower key version of Obama's own 2008 trip abroad in which he spoke to a huge throng in Berlin in the heat of that presidential campaign and declared, "The walls between old allies on either side of the Atlantic cannot stand."

Romney's visit to the Olympics will allow him to wave the American flag and play up a central piece of his resume - his work to salvage the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City.

In London he will meet Prime Minister David Cameron and other officials as well as former Prime Minister Tony Blair to stress the importance of traditional U.S.-British ties. He will also raise some campaign cash from Americans living in Britain.

In Warsaw and Gdansk, Romney will hold talks with Polish officials and former Solidarity leader Lech Walesa and voice support for an ally that has stood as a key bulwark in eastern Europe, a region long dominated by Russia.

"The trip is to demonstrate a clear and resolute stand with nations that share our values," said Romney policy adviser Lanhee Chen.

Israel is the most delicate diplomatic stop for Romney, with Syria in turmoil after a bomb attack in Damascus killed the defense minister, and Israeli tensions with Iran rising after a bus bomb in Bulgaria killed six Israeli tourists and prompted Israel to blame Tehran.

'WALKING BETWEEN THE RAINDROPS'

Romney's visit presents him the opportunity to appeal to both Jewish voters and pro-Israel evangelical voters and contrast himself with the Democratic incumbent Obama, who has a rocky relationship with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

But it also offers some risks as Romney, a relative novice in foreign policy, may be asked whether he would go to war to halt Iran's nuclear program, a top concern of Israel, and whether he would get the United States involved in the bloody turmoil in neighboring Syria, where President Bashar al-Assad is under siege from rebels.

Romney has sharply criticized Obama's handling of Iran and adamantly declared he would not allow it to possess a nuclear weapon, which Tehran denies seeking. Romney has said that "ultimately, regime change is what's going to be necessary."

This has left him open to questions over whether he would launch a military operation against Iran at a time when Americans are weary of wars in Afghanistan and Iraq begun by the last Republican president, George W. Bush.

"That's the key consideration," said Martin Indyk, director of foreign policy at the Brookings Institution and author of the book, "Bending History: Barack Obama's foreign policy."

"On the one hand Romney wants to be able to criticize Obama as being weak on Iran, but I don't think he wants to portray himself as eager for a conflict with Iran. So I think he's walking between the raindrops to try to score Obama without creating the impression that he's keen for another war in the Middle East," Indyk said.

Romney has accused Obama of a lack of leadership for failing to gain U.N. passage of a resolution threatening sanctions against Syria.

Lest Romney face criticism for taking the campaign against Obama overseas, the Romney camp stressed that the candidate will not use the trip to make policy pronouncements.

The friendly imagery from Romney's talks with Netanyahu will be critical in providing a contrast with that of Obama and the Israeli leader, who have clashed in the past.

Obama angered the Israelis a year ago when he embraced a goal long sought by the Palestinians, that the state they seek in the occupied West Bank and Gaza Strip should largely be drawn along lines that existed before the 1967 war in which Israel captured those territories, including East Jerusalem.

"The focus of the trip really is about learning, listening ... and it's about continuing to project Governor Romney's strong view that America needs to stand by its allies, particularly allies that are under siege, like Israel," said Romney foreign policy adviser Dan Senor.

Former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice visited Jerusalem in May and heard complaints from the Israeli leadership about the current state of the U.S.-Israeli relationship, a source familiar with her meetings said.

It has not gone unnoticed there that the Democratic president has not visited Israel, although he has sent some ranking officials there, including Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.

"It's not a trivial issue that Obama has not been to Israel during his presidency," said Michael Goldfarb, a Republican foreign policy expert. "Of course he went as a candidate, but he ran as a pro-Israeli figure and in office has not lived up to his promises."

Romney, who says Obama has proposed Israel adopt "indefensible borders," has known Netanyahu since the 1970s when they both worked briefly at the Boston Consulting Group. Romney also plans to meet Palestinian leaders.

"There's no question that Romney needs to be careful," said Shibley Telhami, a Middle East expert at the University of Maryland. "He needs to come across as a statesman rather than a panderer and be careful not to lock himself into positions that would tie his hands down the road."

While American Jewish voters overwhelmingly support Democrats, Romney's strong pro-Israeli stance could help him cut into Obama's dominance with this voting bloc, which could make a difference in a battleground state like Florida.

Perhaps more importantly, the Israel trip could energize staunchly pro-Israel evangelical conservatives who have been suspicious of Romney - a Mormon who has a history of being moderate - and had searched for an alternative during the Republican primary battle.

96% Yellow Submarine

I don't mean to sound trite, but they should just rename this film "Drug Trip: The Movie" and be done with it. Seriously.Ok then, with that out of the way, I must say, this is a bit of a hard film to really rate or review. Obviously I'm gonna have to do just that, but it is a bit difficult for me.This fantasy centered around The Beatles going out to stop a bunch of creatures caleld Blue Meanies who have taken over a place called Pepperland combines the terrific music of The Beatles with really cool and unique art disrection and visual styles to create a film that is really just an otherworldlt experience. Just so you know, I didn't see this high, but I did have a couple of drinks. I really cn't say what would be the best way to experience this film. I leave that up to you. There's a story, but it's pretty much just a thin clothesline to hang some great tunes and trippy visuals on. This will probably not appeal to some people, but, I at least got something out of it, even if I don't truly know how I feel about this film-hence why my rating is mainly a formaility.I do think this should be seen though, because it is entertaining, and there's some wild stuff going on, even if it does get a bit too self indulgant with the psychedelia. At least there's the music and some subtle, dry humor to make the film more than just trippiness.

Highlight?s Latest Release Improves Battery Life And Gives Users More Ways To Interact With Each Other

highlightlogosucksIt's been four months since social-local-mobile* app Highlight issued a major new release, right before SXSW. That update added the ability to, well, highlight interesting people you had crossed paths with. Now, the app that was all the rage at SXSW (or maybe it wasn't, you tell me) has used the last several months to learn from its users and issue a new update, which adds new ways for people to interact with each other. Before we get to that, though, it's worth pointing out that the most important update to the app might be an improvement in performance and battery life -- something which plagued earlier users, particularly at SXSW.

Washington state gains 10,200 jobs in June

By RACHEL LA CORTE | Associated Press ? Published July 18, 2012 Modified July 18, 2012

OLYMPIA, Wash. ? Washington state saw continued job growth last month, but state officials said Wednesday that the unemployment rate remained unchanged at 8.3 percent.

According to numbers released by the state Employment Security Department, there was an estimated net gain of 10,200 jobs from May to June, with the biggest growth in professional and business services, manufacturing, and leisure and hospitality.

"We're gradually building momentum on the job front," Mark Berreth, a labor economist with Employment Security, said in a written statement. "We've now regained more than half the number of jobs we lost during the recession."

The state lost about 205,000 jobs from when employment peaked in February 2008 to the low point in February 2010. With June's numbers, the state has seen a net gain of about 111,400 jobs since February 2010. All the gains have been in private-sector jobs: with 123,600 gained during that period, while the public sector has seen a loss of 12,200.

Four industries saw a loss of jobs in June, including education and health services, government, financial activities, and construction.

The unemployment rate is calculated by dividing the estimated number of unemployed who have sought work within the past four weeks by the state's total civilian labor force.

An estimated 293,200 people were unemployed and looking for work in Washington state in June. Nearly 145,000 claimed unemployment benefits last month.

More than 4,500 unemployed workers ran out of unemployment benefits last month. Since extended benefits were activated in July 2008, more than 101,000 people have exhausted their benefits.

Shared Family Parenting: Vacations ? Divorce Lawyer Blog ...

Shared Family Parenting:?Vacations

Children benefit from extended uninterrupted vacation time with each parent consistent with their abilities to handle separation from either parent. The length of time for each vacation period is dependent upon the age and temperament of the children, the geographic location of the vacation, the extent of shared parenting, and the availability of the parents.

???????????? Once overnights away from the home base have been successfully established, longer vacation time may be implemented. Vacation time for children less than eighteen months should be consistent with the child?s ability to tolerate extended separations from either parent. Initially, infant vacation time should not exceed three consecutive overnights with either parent. As a child matures, both parents should have the same opportunities to vacation with their child. Many parents provide for two uninterrupted vacation weeks for children at about six years of age, increasing to four weeks by age ten. Whether or not these weeks are consecutive depends upon the circumstances of the family.

  • ?To avoid undue stress on the child, parents should plan down time for their child after travel and before they return to school.
  • In planning vacations, parents should not take their children out of school except in special circumstances and when both parents agree.
  • Plans for vacations, holidays or other special occasions should be agreed to as early as possible to avoid last-minute conflict. Parents should establish specific dates for advance notification of summer vacation choices.
  • Consideration should be given to the relationship between vacation, holiday and regularly scheduled time. Is a two week vacation intended to be fourteen days? If a two week vacation involves two weekends, should an alternating weekend plan begin with the non-vacationing parent on the following weekend to avoid three or more back to back weekends with either parent?
  • Parents should not plan a vacation to conflict with the other parent?s scheduled holiday (i.e. July 4 or Labor Day) unless they agree.
  • The vacationing parent should provide the other parent with full contact information prior to leaving home.
  • Arrangements should be made for reasonable telephone contact between the child and the non-vacationing parent, particularly with younger children.

Dare To be Rich In MLM? Master MLM Recruiting | Internet and ...

Ask anyone that is successful in the MLM business and they?ll tell you that they concentrate on and focus almost 90 % of their time on recruiting, and you should do the same if you want to achieve financial freedom. Recruiting and sponsoring. That?s where all heavy hitters make their money.

Take one or two minutes to think about it. Your company?s products may be the most superb thing ever invented, but if all you do is promote the product and get one sale per customer then really all you are doing is the same as being a sales person on a commission.

By focusing and spending most of your time on MLM recruiting, you will be ready to leverage the time of a well-trained downline, who can then go out and also push the product effectively, there will be plenty of people all adding a little to your wealth. Let?s assume you manage to sell X amount of products every month on your own. Because you have a top product and a well-trained team now, between you and your team that X amount now becomes X to the power of your overall team.

The Numbers Involved in MLM Recruiting

Take a close, hard look at the business of any network marketing six-figure or 7-figure earner and you may be surprised to discover the majority of their cash is made from the efforts of less than a 6 top producers. Not hundreds. A handful. And, chances are, they didn?t personally even sponsor these heavy hitters.

As with any business, the majority of people will never rise to be top producers. At least 70% of new sign ups who sign up will be gone within ninety days. Why? There?s a number of reasons. Sadly that?s the name of the game. Of the remaining 30%, 27% will generally make an amount each month they are quite ok with and only 3% will go on to be top producers.

3% will become MLM recruiting superstars. So that the lesson you need to keep your mind on here is you want to discover a way to personally sponsor at least 100 new team members to join your business as fast and as cost-effectively as practicable. Sponsor a hundred people and you?ll become rich. It?s the way in which the game is played.

How to Increase your Recruiting Success

Though you personally need to sponsor one hundred new team members, you can?t just present your network marketing opportunity to a hundred people because glaringly they won?t all sign up.
